This is evidenced in the film in the ambition of Joanna, who was an connoisseur photographer and a stay-at-home mother. Also, all of the women in the film were domestic housewives shown to us as happy. These women were made to be the high-flown women in the eyes of men. The women of Stepford were expert at anything that is maidenlike and nurturing. Their lives were of readying every food their husband requested and doing every pillow slip of hous ework that their spouse deemed important.
